Founded in 2009 by Dr. Alex Lukens, Eyewise Optometry was established with a vision to bring exceptional eye care and distinctive eyewear to the Alameda community. Since opening our doors, we have been committed to combining clinical excellence with personalized service, ensuring every patient receives the comprehensive care and attention they deserve. In July 2024, we moved to our new, modern location at 1050 Marina Village Parkway, Suite 104, allowing us to better serve our patients with enhanced facilities and an expanded selection of premium eyewear.
Alameda is a very unique and amazing city—an island community rich in history, architectural charm, and small-town warmth despite its proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area. Since opening Eyewise Optometry in Alameda, we wanted to bring that same welcoming climate into our practice. We take pride in being part of this special community and strive to reflect Alameda's distinctive character in everything we do, from our carefully curated eyewear collections to the personalized attention we give each patient.

Our doctors take the time to thoroughly explain each test, discuss your results, and answer all your questions—never rushing through your appointment. We offer expert contact lens services including fittings for specialty lenses such as scleral and hybrid lenses for patients with irregular corneas, astigmatism, or dry eyes, as well as LASIK co-management for those considering vision correction surgery.

We accept most major vision insurance plans including VSP, EyeMed, and Davis Vision, as well as medical insurance PPO plans, making quality eye care accessible to our community.
