Wiley X ::

Wiley X is a veteran-founded, family-owned American eyewear company established in 1987 by U.S. Army Veteran Myles Freeman Sr., who originally started the company as Protective Optics with a singular mission: "Build the world's best protective eyewear." As a veteran himself, Freeman understood firsthand that soldiers needed high-quality protective gear they could trust—equipment that not only kept them safe but also looked good and made them feel confident in the field. What began by creating shooting glasses for FBI agents from a small California office has grown into an iconic American brand trusted worldwide.

Wiley X revolutionized the protective eyewear industry by proving that safety-rated glasses don't have to look like industrial "safety glasses." Every single pair of Wiley X eyewear meets or exceeds ANSI Z87.1+ high-velocity and high-mass impact standards—tested with 40mm projectiles fired at 90 mph and steel balls launched at 150 feet per second. Select models are even ballistic-rated to military MIL-PRF-32432(GL) standards and appear on the U.S. military's Authorized Protective Eyewear List (APEL), making them battlefield-ready. The 82nd Airborne Division was the first military unit to adopt Wiley X in bulk, ordering thousands of SG-1 goggles originally designed for Army Rangers.

Now led by second-generation family members Dan and Myles Freeman Jr. from their headquarters in Frisco, Texas, Wiley X continues to expand beyond military and tactical applications into prescription eyewear, industrial safety, outdoor sports, and lifestyle sunglasses—all maintaining the same uncompromising protection standards. With innovations like CAPTIVATE™ lens technology that filters ambiguous light for enhanced color and contrast, and a commitment to assembling new products in-house in Texas, Wiley X proves that American-made protective eyewear can deliver world-class performance, superior optics, and distinctive style. For those who demand complete confidence in their eyewear—whether on duty, on the job, or enjoying outdoor adventures—Wiley X represents protection for life.
